Aims
The Western Australian Centre for Evidence Based Nursing and Midwifery, as a collaborating centre of the Joanna Briggs Institute, supports the Institute's primary aim, which is to improve the effectiveness of nursing and midwifery practice and health care outcomes.
To achieve this aim the Western Australian Centre carries out a range of activities that focus on an evidence based approach to women and children's health by:
- conducting systematic reviews and analyses of the research literature
- collaborating with expert researchers and clinicians to facilitate
the development of Best Practice Information Sheets based on the
systematic review of the research
- participating in the dissemination and implementation of Best
Practice Information Sheets and evaluating their impact on nursing
and midwifery practice
- promoting and delivering short courses in evidence based nursing
and midwifery for nursing clinicians, nursing researchers, nursing
managers and nursing teachers
- contributing to cost effective health care through the promotion
of evidence based nursing and midwifery practice.
